Pre-War Prescott 20th Jul 2019

Pre-War Prescott continues to gently grow, but doesn’t seem to lose its lovely informal atmosphere. Ably organised by Ian Grace of the Vintage Minor Register – all done from Seattle! – it’s an opportunity to take cars that ordinarily wouldn’t be able to enter a hill climb event. Thus, there are few out and out racers and more saloons and tourers. MG’s featured particularly strongly this year.

On the specially allocated Talbot Terrace, there was a mix of our cars including three that were ‘new’ to the Club. Firstly, Malcolm and Viv Fishwick’s 95 Saloon, AS1298, recently brought down from Scotland and put back on the road. Malcom has spent the last few weeks doing the inevitable sorting, and it looked great, a wonderful original patina inside and out. Neil and Carole Lucas’ 65/105 Alpine team car replica, AYR257, stormed up the hill, fresh from Foppe d’Hane’s works. Lastly, my own 1933 AV105 Vanden Plas Alpine Tourer, APG216, made its first appearance after I had collected it from its restoration by Dan Nicholson only two days before. I’m glad to report that it went very well!

In addition, we were joined by two French Talbots, one owned by David Pike and the other, a fine unrestored saloon not seen before; hopefully the young owner will join the Club!
