It was a record Talbot Prescott display!
Over fifty Talbots graced our special 90th Anniversary display and the competitors’ paddock over the two days at VSCC Prescott, more than anyone could remember, and a spectacular sight it was too. The VSCC came up trumps with our specially reserved area and room for our now traditional hospitality tents. Glyn Lloyd provided information boards and licence-style QR codes to inform the public about each car and take them to the TOC website. It all looked very slick and professional, the envy of many other clubs.
Our band of volunteer strawberry providers, Carole Lucas, Gill Potts and Hilary Bryant, normally cater for fifty guests; this year we had an estimated one hundred and ten, double the work, so immense thanks to them. They did very well and their efforts were greatly appreciated, as was the champagne! Some French guests thought it was excellent!
Dinner, organised well in advance, at the Shutters on the Saturday evening was a full house with 47 sitting down to a deafeningly good do – surely a sign of a vibrant and fun Club.
Judging by the numerous messages of thanks and support - I have never received so many after a Club event - it can be judged a great success and I will leave it to some of those to sum up with their personal comments:
A short personal recollection of Sunday’s event. Our Talbot 110 was prepped and polished to join the gathering of Talbots meeting at Prescott to help celebrate the 90th anniversary of the marque. I had spent some recent evenings diving into the Blight Bible, astonished by the detail and clarity of his descriptions of the ill-fated 1930 Brooklands Double-Twelve so was well primed to enjoy the drive to Prescott. As is our wont, we were travelling 'topless' and were grateful for the benign weather and the traffic could have been much worse. AGK will tolerate 50 mph but much prefers 70-75 wherever possible! Arriving at Prescott we were waved into the Talbot enclosure and greeted by the usual suspects - the TOC is a friendly group and one is always made very welcome. But what a turnout - certainly more Talbots than I have ever seen in one place - quite magnificent. Of course, the high spot is always the Champagne plus Strawberries and Cream at 1300, a splendid addition to our picnic lunch. Discussion abounded, and in my case rekindled the enthusiasm to restart the stalled AX65/75 saloon project! An unremarkable drive home; what does one expect with a Talbot?

Thank you very much for all your amazing work organising the 90th Anniversary event at Prescott, which was a huge success.
What a wonderful gathering. Please pass on my thanks also to the ladies and Carole Lucas working in the background providing the delicious strawberries and cream, plus a glass of bubbly! It was a fabulous event and much appreciated by everyone.
Again, thanks to you all and please pass on my thanks to the other TOC'ers who also worked their magic in the background.
David, thank you for asking me to present the John Young founder's trophy to Ian Potts; it was an honour and a privilege.
Happy Motoring!

Thanks for all the organising - it was a splendid weekend. I don't think I have talked so much for ages!

What a brilliant 90th TOC Anniversary. We realise how much work organising these events are. It was great to catch up with so many Talbot friends. Living in Norfolk always involves a lot of travelling, which is always a consideration, but we haven't given up yet!
A sincere thank you to you and the whole team.

First, huge thanks and congratulations to David, Glyn and Howard, and anyone else who contributed to the success at Prescott. I was only able to be there for the Saturday and for the dinner, but I can see how much work must have gone in to make the event such a success.
Best of everything.
David Thomson
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for presenting me with the Arthur Archer trophy. It felt so special to receive the award with fellow Talboteers there. Also, what a trophy! I didn’t realise it was an original trophy for the Fox and Nicholl team! I will treasure and keep it safe until it’s time to return it.
I promise I will do an article for the club magazine soon; I really do love being involved in the club and would very much like to help if there’s any way I can.
Thank you so much again and look forward to catching up at the next meeting soon,
Charlie Elliott
It was a belting weekend.

This year, both the V.S.C.C. itself and the Talbot Owners' Club are celebrating their 90th anniversaries, so a particular effort was made to present a large spread of Talbots, in all their varied majesty. There were some elegant examples of 1930s coachwork, and no fewer than three marvellous Edwardians, but one of the star exhibits was the 1924 10/23 coupé presently being restored by a young lady enthusiast, Morwenna Corry. The car was built originally as an exhibition chassis with distinctive nickel-plated fittings. It was not bodied until four years later, when its unique coupé coachwork was constructed. The car was found derelict in 2013, and over the following 11 years, Morwenna and her father have come very close to putting the car back on the road.
The Talbot Owners Club magazine is published bi-monthly and contains news, updates and informative articles. It is edited by club secretary David Roxburgh.
