TOC 90th Anniversary Swiss Tour, Appenzell 13th Sep 2024

The 90th anniversary of the TOC offered a welcome opportunity to organize a get-together for the Continental Talbot owners.

We were surprised and delighted by the positive initial response: nine teams from four countries applied, of which four eventually confirmed

On Friday we welcomed the teams from Germany and Switzerland in Heiden, at 800 meters altitude, beautifully overlooking Lake Constance.

The Saturday Tour, planned to meander through Appenzell’s hilly landscape, had to be altered due to low hanging clouds with snowfall at higher parts of the route.  Instead we ran down to and along Lake Constance in the morning to come back to Appenzell in the afternoon for an interesting guided tour through the picturesque village.

Sunday saw us heading over to Austria, down into the Rhine Valley and up the Bregenzer Wald to our lunch stop at Damüls. We avoided snow-covered roads by swapping Furkajoch (1.800 m) with Faschina Pass (1.500 m) – though snow at the roadside mid-September added a bit of spectacle.

On Monday we bade farewell to the crews heading home to Ticino, Lucerne, Baden and Saxony. Thank you, Iris, Isabelle, Ursula, Hans, Horst, Heinz and Massimo for coming.

A great long weekend with 200 miles of enjoyable driving in pleasant company: Talbot Time!
